Sugar Cookie Truffles

Sugar Cookie Truffles

Sugar Cookie Truffles are creamy, sweet, and incredibly easy-to-make treats that combine the nostalgic charm of classic sugar cookies with the rich, melt-in-your-mouth texture of truffles. Perfect for any occasion or holiday gathering, these bite-sized delights impress guests with minimal effort and maximum flavor.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • Store-bought sugar cookies: 2 cups, crushed
  • Cream cheese: 4 oz, softened
  • Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
  • Powdered sugar: 1/2 cup

Coating & Decoration

  • White chocolate or candy melts: 8 oz, melted
  • Sprinkles or colored sugar (optional): as desired

Instructions

  1. Crush the Sugar Cookies: Start by placing your sugar cookies in a food processor or a sealed plastic bag, then crush them into fine crumbs. This forms the base that provides the perfect texture and sweetness for your truffles.
  2. Mix in Cream Cheese and Vanilla: Combine the crushed cookies with softened cream cheese and a splash of vanilla extract. Mix everything until smooth and the crumbs are fully incorporated, forming a dough-like consistency that’s easy to roll.
  3. Shape into Balls: Using a small cookie scoop or your hands, form the mixture into evenly sized balls about one inch in diameter. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet for easy coating later.
  4. Chill the Truffles: Place the shaped balls into the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. Chilling helps firm them up, so they hold their shape during the coating process.
  5. Dip in Melted Chocolate: Melt your chosen chocolate or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler. Using a fork or dipping tool, coat each chilled truffle completely, then place back on the parchment to set.
  6. Add Decorative Touches: While the coating is still wet, sprinkle your favorite toppings such as colorful sprinkles, edible glitter, or crushed nuts. Let them sit until the coating hardens fully, usually about 20 minutes.

Notes

  • Use softened cream cheese for a smoother mixture and creamier truffles.
  • Don’t skip chilling; cooling the truffle balls before dipping prevents them from falling apart in the chocolate.
  • If needed, thin the coating by adding a teaspoon of vegetable oil to melted chocolate for a smoother, shinier finish.
  • Work quickly when decorating since sprinkles or toppings adhere best when the coating hasn’t fully hardened.
  • Store truffles refrigerated in an airtight container for optimal freshness and texture.
