It features seasoned ground beef or turkey, melted cheese, fresh toppings, and can be customized to suit various dietary preferences.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • Pizza dough (enough to cover a sheet pan)

Meat and Seasoning

  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey (or plant-based alternative)
  • 2 tbsp taco seasoning
  • 2 tbsp water (for simmering taco meat)

Cheese

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese blend (cheddar and mozzarella)

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes or salsa
  • 1/2 cup black beans or corn
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Optional Garnishes

  • Sour cream
  • Sliced jalapeños
  • Avocado slices

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Taco Meat: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until browned. Drain any excess fat. Stir in the taco seasoning along with 2 tablespoons of water and simmer until the mixture thickens and flavors meld.
  2. Roll Out the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll out the pizza dough to fit your sheet pan. Transfer the dough to the pan and press it into the corners evenly for uniform baking.
  3. Layer the Ingredients: Spread the cooked taco meat evenly over the dough. Sprinkle with black beans or corn, then generously cover with the shredded cheese blend.
  4. Bake to Perfection: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place the sheet pan in the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Add Fresh Toppings: Remove the pizza from the oven and scatter diced tomatoes, green onions, and fresh cilantro on top. Add optional garnishes such as sliced jalapeños or dollops of sour cream to enhance flavor.

Notes

  • Use room temperature dough to make stretching easier and ensure even baking.
  • Do not overload with wet toppings before baking to prevent a soggy crust.
  • Fully preheat the oven to ensure the crust crisps properly.
  • Line the sheet pan with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.
  • Allow the pizza to cool slightly before slicing to avoid runny toppings.
