Ingredients

Scale

Sausage and Eggs

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 6 large eggs, lightly scrambled with salt and pepper

Cheese

  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (or cheese blend)

Dough and Toppings

  • 1 package Pillsbury Crescent Roll Dough (8 oz)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional herbs: fresh parsley, chives, or thyme (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sausage and Eggs: Cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat on paper towels. Lightly season eggs with salt and pepper and scramble them until just set but still soft. Let both cool slightly before assembling to avoid sogginess.
  2. Preheat and Prep the Dough: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface without separating the triangles. Press the seams firmly to seal and form one large rectangle, creating the base for the pull-apart bread.
  3. Layer the Filling: Evenly spread the cooked sausage and scrambled eggs over the dough rectangle. Generously sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top to ensure each pull has melted cheesy goodness.
  4. Roll and Cut: Carefully roll the dough into a tight log starting from one long edge to the other. Using a sharp serrated knife, slice the roll into 1.5-inch thick pieces. Arrange the slices, cut side up, in a greased baking pan, spacing them slightly to allow for rising and easy pulling apart.
  5. Bake to Golden Perfection: Brush the tops of the slices with melted butter to achieve a golden crust and added richness. Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the bread is cooked through, golden brown, and the cheese is bubbly. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving to allow the cheese to set.

Notes

  • Don’t overcook the scrambled eggs; keep them slightly underdone to maintain moisture.
  • Seal the dough seams tightly to prevent filling leakage during baking.
  • Use a sharp serrated knife to slice the dough roll cleanly without squishing the layers.
  • Allow the baked bread to rest before pulling apart for better texture and cheese setting.
  • Customize with your favorite cheese, meats, or herbs to suit your taste.
