Instructions

  1. Prepare the mushrooms: Clean the mushrooms gently with a damp towel to avoid excess moisture. Remove the stems and finely chop them for mixing into the dip.
  2. Sauté the mushroom stems: Heat a skillet over medium heat, add the chopped mushroom stems and minced garlic, and cook until softened and fragrant to build a savory base.
  3. Mix the creamy base: In a bowl, blend the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise or sour cream, and freshly grated Parmesan until smooth. Fold in the cooled mushroom mixture, chopped green onions, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Transfer and bake: Spread the mixture into a baking dish or fill hollowed mushroom caps for bite-sized servings. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 20 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  5. Garnish and serve: Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh chives or parsley. Serve warm with crackers, toasted baguette slices, or fresh vegetable sticks.
