Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Other

  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup hot fudge sauce (for swirling)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan and gather all ingredients. Make sure the butter is softened and eggs are at room temperature to ensure easy mixing and a smooth batter.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and baking powder until fully combined and no lumps remain, for an even chocolate flavor.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with softened butter and vanilla extract until creamy and well blended, creating the rich base for the brownie bread.
  4. Incorporate Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently just until combined to avoid overmixing which can toughen the bread.
  5. Add the Hot Fudge Sauce: Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Drizzle generous spoonfuls of hot fudge sauce over it. Pour the remaining batter on top and gently swirl more fudge with a knife to create ribbons of gooey chocolate.
  6. Bake to Perfection: Bake in the preheated oven for 40–50 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs but no wet batter. The bread should be set while fudge pockets remain soft and gooey.
  7. Cool and Enjoy: Let the bread cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing. This allows fudge pockets to thicken and the bread to become easier to handle.

Notes

  • Use high-quality cocoa powder to enhance chocolate flavor and richness.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread tender and avoid toughness.
  • Swirl the hot fudge sauce gently to maintain beautiful ripples and pockets without fully mixing it in.
  • Ingredients at room temperature combine more smoothly and help achieve a uniform texture.
  • Allow the bread to rest before slicing to prevent crumbling and let fudge pockets set perfectly.
