Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Brussels Sprouts: Trim the stem ends of the Brussels sprouts and remove any yellow or damaged leaves. Slice them in half lengthwise to ensure even roasting and maximum flavor absorption.
  2. Cook the Bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove bacon and drain on paper towels. Reserve 1-2 tablespoons of the bacon fat in the skillet to use later.
  3. Roast the Brussels Sprouts: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). In a bowl, toss the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper, then add reserved bacon fat and mix well. Spread evenly on a baking sheet and roast for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through, until golden brown and tender.
  4. Make the Honey Glaze: While the sprouts are roasting, combine honey and lemon juice in a small bowl. Stir until the mixture is well blended.
  5. Combine and Serve: Transfer the roasted Brussels sprouts to a serving bowl. Crumble the crispy bacon over the top, drizzle with the honey-lemon glaze, and toss gently to coat everything evenly. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Slice Brussels sprouts uniformly for even roasting and caramelization.
  • Use reserved bacon fat to add smoky richness when tossing sprouts.
  • Watch the roasting sprouts closely to prevent burning; aim for golden edges.
  • Mix garlic with olive oil before roasting to avoid burning the garlic.
  • Use fresh, high-quality honey for best glaze flavor and texture.
