Gooey Pepperoni Pizza Bombs

Gooey Pepperoni Pizza Bombs

Gooey Pepperoni Pizza Bombs are crispy, cheesy handheld pockets filled with stretchy mozzarella, zesty tomato sauce, and spicy pepperoni wrapped in golden, flaky pizza dough. Perfect for game nights, parties, or a quick snack, these savory bombs offer a delicious, fun twist on traditional pizza with an irresistible crunchy crust and melty interior.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • Pizza dough – enough to roll out into a ¼ inch thick rectangle
  • Mozzarella cheese – shredded, about 1 to 1½ cups
  • Pepperoni slices – 20 to 30 slices
  • Tomato sauce – about ½ cup, spread thinly
  • Olive oil – 2 tablespoons, for brushing
  • Italian seasoning – 1 teaspoon, for sprinkling
  • Parmesan cheese (optional) – 2 tablespoons, grated for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle approximately ¼ inch thick, ensuring an even base to hold the fillings securely.
  2. Add the fillings: Spread a thin, even layer of tomato sauce over the dough surface, then layer pepperoni slices evenly on top followed by a generous sprinkle of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  3. Roll and seal: Carefully roll the dough like a jelly roll from one edge to the other, then slice the roll into pieces approximately 1½ inches thick. Press the edges gently but firmly on each piece to seal and prevent filling leakage during baking.
  4. Brush and season: Place the cut pieces upright on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the tops with olive oil, then sprinkle with Italian seasoning and optional grated Parmesan cheese.
  5. Bake to perfection: Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 18 to 22 minutes or until the tops turn golden brown and crispy and the cheese inside is melted and gooey.

Notes

  • Do not overfill the bombs to avoid bursting during baking.
  • Use fresh or homemade pizza dough for the best texture and flavor.
  • Seal edges tightly to prevent cheese and sauce leakage.
  • Let pizza bombs cool slightly before eating to avoid burns from hot melted cheese.
  • Experiment with different cheese blends like mixing mozzarella with cheddar or provolone for enhanced flavor.
