Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture: In a large bowl, gently whisk the mascarpone cheese with sugar, vanilla extract, ground nutmeg, and cinnamon until smooth and creamy. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then carefully fold it into the mascarpone mixture to keep the texture light and airy.
  2. Soak the Ladyfingers: Pour the eggnog into a shallow dish and, if desired, mix in a splash of rum or brandy. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the eggnog mixture for just a second or two to avoid sogginess. Arrange the dipped ladyfingers evenly at the bottom of individual serving cups.
  3. Layer the Cups: Add a generous layer of the mascarpone cream over the soaked ladyfingers in each cup. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers, then top with a final layer of the mascarpone mixture. Smooth the tops with a spatula for a neat finish.
  4. Chill and Garnish: Cover the cups and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld and the ladyfingers to soften perfectly. Just before serving, garnish with a dusting of ground cinnamon or freshly grated nutmeg for a festive touch.
