Deep Fried S’mores

Deep Fried S’mores

Deep Fried S’mores are a delectable fusion of crispy golden batter and a gooey marshmallow-chocolate center, delivering a nostalgic campfire treat with an indulgent twist. Perfectly crispy on the outside and melty on the inside, this dessert is easy to make, share, and customize for any occasion.

Ingredients

Core Ingredients

  • Graham Crackers: Enough to make squares slightly larger than marshmallows (about 8 sheets)
  • Large Marshmallows: 8 pieces
  • Chocolate Bars (milk or dark): 8 pieces, sized to fit between graham crackers

Batter

  • All-Purpose Flour: 1 cup
  • Baking Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Milk: 3/4 cup
  • Egg: 1 large

For Frying

  • Vegetable Oil: Enough for deep frying (about 4 cups)

Optional Garnishes

  • Powdered Sugar: for dusting
  • Chocolate Sauce: for drizzling
  • Caramel Sauce: for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your S’mores Foundation: Break graham crackers into squares slightly larger than marshmallows. Place a piece of chocolate and one marshmallow between two graham cracker squares and gently press to secure. Arrange assembled s’mores on a tray for easy dipping.
  2. Make the Batter: In a mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, milk, and egg until the batter is smooth and slightly thick, perfect for coating the s’mores.
  3. Heat the Oil: Fill a deep pot or fryer with vegetable oil and heat it to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to maintain this temperature to ensure even frying.
  4. Batter and Fry: Carefully dip each assembled s’more into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Gently lower it into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes, turning if necessary, until the exterior is golden brown and crisp.
  5. Drain and Serve: Remove deep fried s’mores with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with chocolate or caramel sauce.

Notes

  • Keep oil temperature stable using a thermometer to avoid greasy or burnt s’mores.
  • Fry in small batches to prevent overcrowding and ensure even cooking.
  • Press graham crackers tightly around the fillings to prevent leaks during frying.
  • Use cold fillings to slow melting and maintain gooey centers.
  • Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
