Ingredients

Scale

Filling Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Dough

  • 1 package crescent roll dough (8 count triangles)

Optional Seasonings and Add-ins

  • Optional: diced jalapeños or cayenne pepper for heat
  • Optional: fresh herbs like basil, parsley, or thyme
  • Optional: egg wash (1 beaten egg) for brushing

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a medium bowl, combine shredded cooked chicken, softened cream cheese, shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until evenly combined and creamy.
  2. Preheat Your Oven: Set the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking your crescent rolls.
  3. Roll Out the Crescent Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into the pre-cut triangles placed on a baking tray or parchment paper-lined surface.
  4. Add the Filling: Spoon a generous amount of the chicken mixture onto the wide end of each crescent triangle. Be careful not to overfill to prevent leaking during baking.
  5. Roll and Seal: Starting at the wide end, carefully roll each crescent triangle toward the tip, fully encasing the filling inside. Pinch the edges gently to seal and place the rolls seam side down on a baking sheet.
  6. Bake Until Golden Brown: Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and puffed. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use shredded chicken as it mixes better with the cream cheese and melts evenly inside the rolls.
  • Do not overfill the crescent dough to avoid bursting and leakage during baking.
  • Chill the filling before assembling to make handling easier and firmer.
  • Brush rolls with beaten egg before baking for a shiny, golden crust.
  • Try alternative doughs such as puff pastry or homemade dough for variation.
